Birkenhead Festival of Transport

For the third year in a row Select Security are pleased to be associated with supplying security to the Birkenhead Festival of Transport.

The fifth annual Birkenhead Park Festival of Transport will be held on the 22nd & 23rd September 2012. The free to enter festival is one of the top Wirral tourist destinations for families looking for a very enjoyable and memorable weekend of activities amid the splendour of one of the nation’s finest parks.

The two day event is organised by members from the Birkenhead Lions Club along with support from the Wallasey, Ellesmere Port and Liverpool Lions Club ably supported by members from the Wallasey Rotary Club. The festival receives further assistance from Wirral Model Boat Club and Wirral Transport Museum. The festival would not be possible without the invaluable support from  7 Waves Community Radio, Arriva Buses, Avon Buses, Cappuccinos, Stagecoach, Showtime, Titan Scaffolding, Merseyrail, Merseytravel ,Wirral Borough Council and Wirral Area Forum ‘Funding For You’

The festival provides an opportunity for visitors to nostalgically view a fine selection of classic cars and motorcycles produced during the heyday of British manufacturing. Alternatively enthusiasts may wish to exhibit their own car, motor cycle or commercial vehicle free of charge and share the weekend with like-minded people.

By popular demand, the Howard Brothers will again be in attendance with their famous steam driven gallopers, this year the Victorian Fairground will have the added attraction of a 1922 Vintage Dodgem Car ride. In addition to ‘all the fun of the fair’ there is a thirty metre long food and craft marquee plus musicians and a diverse range of side stalls. Given the ongoing success of the festival, the largest ever selection of working steam vehicles and traction engines will be on show.

The festival draws an average attendance of 30,000 visitors, and this year promises to be our finest event so far. Why not come along for a great family weekend; with your help and support this event will continue to grow and grow.
