Astmoor Winter Newsletter

Message from the Chair of Astmoor
Steering Group

Welcome to the Autumn-Winter issue of ‘Astmoor News’, our second issue of the estate newsletter.

This issue details an excellent opportunity for all companies based on Astmoor to recycle their waste plastics – FREE of Charge.  Please refer to the article for further information.

As I mentioned in the last newsletter, the focus for this current year is to improve the appearance and overall image of the estate.  Over the coming months, it is anticipated that a number of image enhancement schemes will be given the go ahead and start to be implemented across the public areas.  The works will aim to improve the appearance of the estate and open up some of the walkways to improve surveillance and personal safety.

After the lack of gritting on the estate last winter, it is reassuring to know that if we have another cold winter, Astmoor Industrial Estate is now added to the gritting schedule - a great result for the BID!  The existing grit bins have also been mapped and added to the website.

In addition, the Executive Committee has already agreed that a Business Frontage Charter will soon be rolled out to businesses.  Companies will be asked to voluntarily sign up to the Charter and make a commitment to contribute to the visual improvement of Astmoor.  As a show of support, the Executive Committee members have already signed up to the Charter and hope that as many businesses as possible follow our lead and help to improve Astmoor Industrial Estate!

Finally, some of you may be aware that I will be leaving Kawneer at the end of October so would like to close by saying how much I have enjoyed my time working with the businesses on Astmoor and would like to thank everyone for their efforts to improve the Astmoor Industrial Estate.

We have made significant progress, but it’s just the start.

I would like to pay special tribute to Gareth Bennett, without whose efforts and dedication none of what has been achieved would have been possible.

I am confident that the Executive Committee, whoever is nominated as Chair and the BID Manager will continue to drive Astmoor forward for the better.

In conclusion, I would like to wish each and every one of you “All the Best” for the future and can assure you I will be following future developments on Astmoor with great interest.

John
